Position SummaryWorld Monuments Fund (WMF) is seeking a proven nonprofit fundraising professional for the role of Vice President of Development and Partnerships. As a member of the Executive Team, reporting to the President and CEO, the VP of Development and Partnerships will oversee a staff of 12, as well as several consultants, and be responsible for annual revenues in excess of $25 million including $6 million in annual unrestricted giving, as well as delivering on major long-term fundraising campaigns, including an ongoing endowment initiative, and play a major role in designing and executing events to celebrate WMF’s upcoming 60th anniversary. The Vice President will manage all aspects of fundraising and partner across the organization to identify opportunities for funding a broad portfolio of cultural heritage preservation projects, global priorities, and strategic initiatives.This is a full-time, exempt position based at WMF’s global headquarters in New York.About World Monuments FundWorld Monuments Fund (WMF) is the leading independent organization devoted to safeguarding the world’s most treasured places to enrich people’s lives and build mutual understanding across cultures and communities. Responsibilities Serve as a member of the Executive Team; work collaboratively across the organization to advance the mission of WMF and build a culture of inclusiveness and excellenceDeliver on the annual fundraising targets and establish ambitious targets that support the achievement of the strategic goals of the organizationPlan and lead special campaigns (general operating, programmatic, endowment)Work with the senior leadership team to identify major programmatic funding opportunities and match those needs with donor interestsWork with the CEO as a lead fundraising partner while personally expanding the constituency for major gifts and deepening existing relationshipsCoordinate outreach work of international affiliates, regional offices, and donor councils to strengthen WMF’s network and build a cohesive global cultivation effortEnsure that WMF is tapping into the entire range of prospective donor pools—from individuals (major and planned gifts) to foundations, corporate partnerships, special events, and membershipDirect all aspects of the annual gala and other donor events, collaborating with the CEO and leadership team to conceptualize the event program strategy with innovative programmingDevelop highly customized travel opportunities for supporters in partnership with professional travel providers that showcase the organization’s field projects and build loyalty and support for its missionCollaborate with Board committees to maximize their involvement in fundraising and other initiatives including to identify and build relationships with a network of potential major funders and additional board membersPartner with the CEO on board developmentWork with the Finance department on the preparation of the annual operating budget and to monitor performance throughout the year and proactively address areas of riskOversee day-to-day management of the Development department to motivate and support their work to achieve annual fundraising goals, enhance donor engagement, and expand our base of donorsManage the Development department processes, and technology to optimize the performance of fundraising and donor stewardshipIII. QualificationsStrong work tenure: minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible management positions in nonprofit fundraisingStrong working knowledge of the principles and best practices of fundraising, marketing, and communications. Experience with international fundraising is preferredAn entrepreneurial mindset to capture the many funding opportunities - nationally and internationally - available for cultural heritage preservationA strategic thinker with a focus on experimenting new initiatives while improving systems and coordinating efforts to reach strategic fundraising goalsAn energetic, collaborative leader and strong manager capable of overseeing and training a strong and diverse team, comfortable leading through influence and working across different stakeholders to reach agreement on important decisionsSolid knowledge of the digital landscape and fundraising systems and analyticsThe ability to foster a creative, professional, “open door” management culture; to empower team members to fulfill their potential; and to encourage staff to challenge assumptionsMotivation and passion to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environmentWillingness to travel internationally and work evenings and weekendsFluency in English required; facility with multiple other languages preferredBachelor’s degree required (MBA or graduate degree in a related field preferred)IV.
